5-Axis Vertical Machining Center VMU650 Series
The new 5-axis vertical machining center VMU650 series by Minnuo adopts an innovative modular design concept to achieve high precision machining with 5-axis linkage. The machine combines an optimized gantry-type three-coordinate structure with a two-axis composite rotary table, optimized through finite element analysis to strengthen the machine’s rigidity and significantly improve its dynamic response. Its lightweight design principles allow for a more compact structure while maintaining excellent machining performance. Equipped with an advanced 5-axis CNC system, the VMU650 series is capable of accurately executing complex spatial surface machining tasks to meet the most demanding industrial manufacturing needs.

Features
- High rigidity – machine base, crossbeam, slide plate, spindle box, rotary table and other basic parts are all made of high-strength cast iron, which has stable organization and permanently ensures the quality. Castings structure are analyzed by machine tool dynamics and finite element analysis, the main body of any point of high rigidity box structure, the appropriate configuration of the corner reinforcement (triangular rib structure), to ensure the high rigidity of the base parts.
- High speed – The maximum speed of HSK-A63 direct spindle is up to 12,000r/min. The maximum speed of HSK-A63 electric spindle is up to 15,000r/min. The maximum speed of rapid traverse of X, Y, Z coordinates is up to 60m/min.
- High precision – X, Y, Z three-way feeding are supported by linear roller guide, with high-precision ball screws, the rotary axis can be configured with a backlash-free worm gear drive mechanism to achieve high torque, but also configured with a torque motor direct drive to achieve high speed, the Y-direction adopts a center-of-gravity drive structure, so that the beam runs more smoothly, and the ball screw is configured with a special drive bearing, thus ensuring the machine’s high speed and high accuracy. The ball screws are equipped with special drive bearings, thus ensuring the positioning accuracy and repeatability of the machine.
- Space saving–The two-axis rotary table, ring-type tool magazine and the bed are integrated, the triangular crossbeam is placed on the left and right side walls of the bed to move back and forth, the slide plate moves left and right along the crossbeam, and the main spindle box moves up and down along the slide plate, the one-piece composite design saves space, so the machine tool obtains the largest working area relative to the floor space.
Key technical indicators
- Adoption of improved gantry structure (three-way coordinate movement and placed above the machining area, the table is fixed and motionless way), so that the machining capacity of the machine tool is not affected by the weight of the machining workpiece and the heat of the chips, and the accuracy is well maintained;
- Y-direction adopts the lightweight design theory, adopts the left-right symmetrical structure, realizes the center of gravity drive, improves the dynamic performance of the machine tool, and achieves the ideal power balance;
- 12000r/min HSK-A163 direct-connected spindle or 15000r/min HSK-A63 electric spindle, as well as 60m/min rapid traverse speed can effectively shorten the machining time and improve the machining efficiency;
- Machine base, crossbeam, slide plate, spindle box, rotary table and other basic parts are all made of high-strength cast iron, and the casting structure has been analyzed by machine tool dynamics analysis and finite element analysis, which has a stable organization and ensures the high rigidity of the basic parts;
- Equipped with SIEMENS 840Dsl or HEIDENHAIN-iTNC640 numerical control system.
Applications
- Five-axis vertical machining center VMU series machine tool can realize the joint motion of multiple coordinates and large stroke to process complex space surface. It is suitable for the machining of impellers, blades, marine propellers, heavy-duty generator rotors, turbine rotors, crankshafts of large diesel engines and other multi-plane and spatial surface machining parts, and the parts can be finished milling, boring, drilling, expanding, reaming, tapping and other multi-processes after one clamping.
